I want a home theater system with: HDMI cable hook up It doesn't need to be able to play DVDs at all, just hook up to one Good surround sound quality A remote Nowhere over $200 Is there any speaker system or home theater system for me? business projector versus a home theater projector? Is there that much of a difference in black levels? I am budgeting about 500-600 for the project and about 100 for the screen. I can afford a 2000 projector. A ViewSonic PJ506D SVGA (800x600) 4:3/16:9 2000 lumens business projector is going for 500 with a mail free screen and mount offer. An InFocus In72 WVGA (852x480) 900 lumens home theater projector is going for about the same refurbished with no extras. I have read that I really should get a home theater projector rather than a business projector like the 506D, but the lumens scares me. I am projecting on an 80"screen with blinds and curtains closed. no lights. still some ambient light. Which will be better. I am going to use it the a really nice DVD player, Wii and Home theater PC. No interest in HD DVDs for atleast 3-4 years when I will prob upgrade this anyway.
How do I use my home theater to play all audio from the HDTV? I have a home theater (with DVD player) and a cable recorder box connected to my HDTV. The home theater is on HDMI-1 and the cable box is connected to Component-2 (video and audio). How do I use my home theater speakers to play the audio when I'm watching cable TV through component-2? What additional wiring connections do I need to make? My cable recorder box also has a HMDI connection capability.

What are the top brands of the home theater systems on the market? I am not talking about home theater - in -a box (pre-boxed) systems like sony or panasonic that are usually under $500. I am talking about the ones you usually put all the components together yourself. I have zero knowledge as to who makes the best home theaters systems. It would great if you list down several brands and top websites that sell them.
Whats the best way to hide home theater speaker wires? I have a home theater system and I want to hang some speakers on the walls but the problem is, is that the speaker wires hang from the bottom and I have a white wall. It looks ugly like if ACTUALL wires were hanging out of the walls. What would be the best way to hide the wires? Also, I CANNOT PUT FURNITURE TO COVER UP THE WIRES. PS: I already bought the home speaker set for a ton of cash, and I'm sure not as hell planning to return or buy some different set.
How can i fix sound lag in a home theater system? I hooked up a home theater system (surround sound) to my television. My problem is with the sound from the cable box. I have one HDMI cable from the cable box to the television (which has 2 speakers on it) and a Red/White Component Audio going to the home-theater base. When i turn on the television and the surround speakers at the same time im getting about a half second delay in the sound out of the surround speakers compared to the sound out of the television speakers. How should i resolve this?
How do I know the quality of a home theater system? Using specifications such as wattage, etc, how can I tell the quality of a home theater system? I want to find a good set for around $100-$200 but I don't know a lot about sound fidelity. Also, any home theater system suggestions?
What are some really good headphones for home theater and Xbox? I want some really good headphones in the <$150 range for my home theater. I come home from work late at night and don't want to wake up my wife and daughter, but still want to enjoy a movie or some Xbox. Obviously I'd go buy the Sennheiser HD 650s if I wanted to flip out 1/2 a grand, but that's not possible. Anybody have any good suggestions? 5.1 sound and good bass are important! Thanks friends!
How to connect a home theater system to a set top box.? I have an LCD tv. My dvd player (home theater system) is already attached to it. So whenever I watch a vcd/dvd, i get the sound from the home theater speakers. But how can I get the sound of my tv channels (coming from my set top box) to come from my home theater system. Is there any way to connect the set top box to the dvd player.?
How can I connect my Computer to my Home Theater System? I am trying to play music from my computer through my Home Theater System. My home theater system has an USB port, but when I try to connect that to the one on my computer, the message "no USB" shows up on the home theater system. How do I select the best home theater system? My boyfriend just bought a plasma TV and I'd like to buy him an home theater system but I don't have a clue where to begin. I've been trying to research online but it seems like there's so many details to figure out - how many watts do I need, do I need a new DVD player with it, do I want to buy it piece by piece or HTIB? Ahhh. I'd like to spend somewhere around $200, max $300 but I don't know if this is realistic for a good system and don't want to get him a cruddy one just for the sake of getting one. I know he's really interested in the ones that have a rear wireless speaker - and I don't know too much more than that. Anyone knowledgeable out there with some good recommendations, a place I should begin my research or willing to have some dialouge with me about the best systems and what I should look for? I think I'll eventually go to CC or BB but I'd like to be armed with some info first. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

Where is the best place to purchase home theater equipment? What is the best way to configure my home theater system? I would like to hook up both my x-box 360 (which is my DVD player) and my satellite box. My home theater receiver has one digital audio optical interface port. I have this plugged into the x-box. Now, however, my satellite box only has either red and white cables or the digital audio optical connection. What should I do? I have a 46" sony bravada HD TV that has digital audio out in optical as well. Is there a way to use that to resolve this issue? Can you get a splitter cable for the digital audio optical stuff? Do I need to buy a new receiver with more ports? The bravada has an optical out, but no optical in... and even if it did, the home theater has only one optical in, and I'd still be only able to get the xbox in one or the other... if that makes sense. I was hoping to not have to buy a different adapter for my xbox if it is not necessary. My sat receiver has only Digital optical out, it does not have HDMI available [I do not have an HD satellite yet, we won't for another year... but I bought the TV anyway because I wanted a bigger TV.]
How should I upgrade my home theater system? My home theater system sounds like crap. I have an entry-level dvd player and A/V receiver. The picture is ok, but the sound is real tinny. I have a pair of Bose 201s and a subwoofer (decent speakers). Any ideas? Should I invest in a better DVD player or a better A/V receiver?

(Blue, green, pink, yellow, and black jacks) I also have an Onkyo 7.1 home theater system. I am trying to run my computer through the Onkyo and when I got it connected I only get sound from the left side and center. I set the soundcard to 7.1 home theater surround sound in the sounds and audio devices panel of the computer and tried all the jacks on the sound card. I also tried every possible combination on the back of the Onkyo, but nothing changes. Will this just not work, or do I need a different soundcard? If so what kind?
